Minimum Production Volume

One of the main points to consider when choosing between domestic and imported production is the minimum volume required for each model. In domestic production, the minimum required is 300 pieces per model, with the standard reference size being 30 centimeters. This size is not arbitrary: it is determined by the optimization of production processes and the balance between visual detail, functionality, and cost.

When smaller plush toys are desired, for example, 25 centimeters, this is possible, but it entails an increase in the minimum quantity, as the processes become less profitable per unit. In this sense, the smaller the product, the larger the production volume must be to make it viable.

Delivery Times

Another determining factor when choosing between domestic and imported production is delivery time. For domestic production, the estimated delivery time is between 25 and 35 days for orders of less than 1,200 pieces. This time is considered quite competitive in the market, as it allows for a quick response to new business opportunities, seasonal launches, or inventory replenishment.

In contrast, imported production can take between 120 and even 180 days, depending on the country of origin, shipping times, customs, and other logistical factors. This requires planning much further in advance, which can be a challenge for those who handle high-turnover products or who rely on advertising campaigns or specific events.

Quality and Materials

In terms of quality, both domestic and imported production can offer good standards, but there are important differences worth highlighting. Domestic production uses high-quality materials and provides greater control during the design and manufacturing process. This allows for quick adjustments, product detail oversight, and constant communication with the production team.

Furthermore, the proximity to the factory makes it easier to conduct prototype reviews, quality tests, or even modify design details if necessary. This provides a significant advantage to those seeking to develop customized products or limited-run production.

On the other hand, with imported production, although high-quality materials are also available, control is often more limited. This can create distance in decision-making or make last-minute changes difficult. Even so, imported production can be ideal when dealing with standardized models, with well-defined processes, and the need for large volumes.

Design Flexibility

A major advantage of domestic production is its creative flexibility. Because it involves smaller orders and shorter lead times, it's possible to test different designs, launch small collections, or even produce customized models for events, branding, or promotional campaigns. This opens an interesting window for brands seeking to differentiate themselves through design.

In contrast, imported production is designed for more stable lines and pre-defined designs. While prototypes and adaptations are possible, the process is typically longer and more expensive. Therefore, this model is best suited when the desired product is already clear and capable of producing it on a large scale.
